We are current fosters with Rancho Coastal, they are great to work with, very caring for the pets and their individual needs. They have trainers that help and I am learning how to be a better foster in the process. My daughter has also attended their summer camp and really enjoyed it. The site will be even better once the remodel is done, I hear it will be the 4 seasons pooch hotel :-).

Beautiful facility and staff was nice. Although, the way they handle things is pretty much animal abuse. I went into look for a dog after my last one had to be put down after 17 years. I found a dog and asked if I could visit with the dog. Then they told me not before I was interviewed to make sure that I was good enough for the animal. I was horribly offended at the idea that I was coming in looking to take a dog into my home, feed it, care for it, and make it a part of my family and I needed to questioned. I am there to see if the dog is good enough for me not the other way around. I do understand that there are people out there that do not take care of their animals or neglect them but this place was not going to figure that out with applications and interviews. The vast majority of people who are looking to adopt an animal are giving that animal a way better life than it sitting in a cage. Needless to say I had left without a dog. Keep in mind that dog had been in that cage for a year when I had gotten there. This operation would rather pat themselves on the back telling themselves what a great thing they’re doing for society what is truly at the expense of the animals happiness. Contrary to how I used to believe, you are better off buying a dog than adopting one. At least that way you can be treated with basic respect and the animal is not left in a cage for a year.

We got our dog here! Out of the 6 shelters we visited over the last few months this one was the best. The animals are well kept, frequently walked, clicker trained (!!!) and they took a very good history/assessment from us and made sure we knew what we were getting into with our girl. I 100% trust this place and if I were to adopt again this would be my first choice. Our dog is just as they described behaviorally and I'm glad they took so much time getting to know her. She is making strides every day and is a wonderful companion.

they do seem to care about their animals, however i believe they are being overprotective to the point where they are preventing good adoptions from being made. my family came here to adopt a dog, and they wouldn't let us adopt ANY of their …

This place is awesome. All of the staff (volunteers?) are awesome. Some of them sit with the dogs in their spaces and tell you about the dog. They also have spaces for cats and rabbits, and a little gift shop.
